From there the group visited Hotel Tavinos, 612 Azuchichō, Shimogyo Ward, at 10:00, Fushimiinari (0) by Subway and JR train at 10:30, Kiyomizudera (500) by taxi at 11:30, Yasaka-no-to by walking at 12:50, Kennninji by walking at 13:30, Kinkakuji by taxi at 15:00, Ryoanji at 15:40 and Hotel Tavinos at 16:30.
Travel between the sites was by public transport: Kiyomizu-Gojo to Fushimiinari by train (220JPY). Across 1 sections the fare came to 220JPY per person.
What Is a Private Kyoto Day Tour Like in Summer? A Licensed Guide's Report
The guests were visitors from North America who had recently graduated from university. They were bright and energetic, and we were able to enjoy the tour even in the intense heat. Perhaps because it was the last day of the Obon holiday period, the various sightseeing spots were relatively uncrowded and the roads within the city were also clear. Since they did not do much shopping and we had time to spare, we also extended our visit to Ryoanji Temple. However, they seemed a little tired from the heat. They had come from Osaka to Kyoto the previous day, and were planning to travel to Tokyo the day after next. Since they said they wanted to eat sushi in the evening, I pointed them toward Musashi, a popular conveyor-belt sushi restaurant.
