- 2) 10:20 Meiji Shrine

- 4) 13:00 Yanaka <Shopping Street, Cemetery, Ueno Sakuragi Area, Former Yoshidaya Liquor Store>
- 5) 14:00 Ueno Park <Ueno Toshogu Shrine>
- 6) 15:10 Asakusa <Sensoji Temple, Nakamise Shopping Street>
- 7) 16:00 Disband @ Tokyo Metro Ginza Line Asakusa Station
What's a Full-Day Private Tour of Tokyo Like? A Licensed Guide's Report on Meiji Shrine, Yanaka, Ueno, and Asakusa
The guests were visitors from Europe who requested a Tokyo highlights tour. Communication via a messaging app beforehand had been smooth. After meeting them at their Hotel, we visited Meiji Shrine, where they drew omikuji fortunes and received goshuin stamps. They also wrote wishes on ema votive plaques and offered them, then prayed at the main hall. We actively exchanged views about each other's cultures and customs, and found a slight generation gap when it came to movies and music. Since they were interested in anime cosplay, they purchased anime figures in Akihabara. They mentioned they were fairly used to heat and humidity. In the quiet Yanaka area, I recommended grilled squid and scallop skewers from a fishmonger in the local shopping street. We walked through the cemetery so they could see buildings symbolic of the early Showa era, and then continued on foot to Ueno Park. Near the fountain, a Pakistan festival was being held, and the guests enjoyed their first taste of lassi. We stopped by Toshogu Shrine, where they successfully received a goshuin stamp, and then headed to Asakusa. Here too they of course requested a goshuin stamp, and while they enjoyed melon bread, time ran out and we parted ways at Asakusa Station. Perhaps influenced by Japanese anime, the guests were very eager to understand the Japanese language as well, and they were a very positive and enthusiastic group.

I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide Tachi was so helpful in showing us around and answering all our questions. It was a great idea to do this on the first day since we covered most of the popular cultural sights and areas with her leaving the ret of our days for other specific interests.

Wonderful tour of the highlights of Tokyo
Tachi was our guide. What a wonderful experience. She communicated very effectively before our departure to plan a very nice tour around the city. On the day of departure, it was raining very heavily in Tokyo and we considered rescheduling, but went ahead anyway. She met us at our hotel just as planned and set out on a very nice tour that visited all the sites we wanted to see. We used the subway system to move about the city. We we very happy with the tour and would book with her again in the future if we return to Tokyo. Hint: download PASMO to your phone to pay for subway rides.
