The guests were visitors from Oceania. It was their first time in Japan, and they wanted to learn about old townscapes and history. [Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) is one of Japan's largest networks of government-licensed, English-speaking private tour guides, serving all 47 prefectures.
We first visited Fushimi Inari Taisha, and when I gave a detailed explanation, the guests listened attentively. Due to the extreme heat, I think there were fewer people than usual. After that, we went to Nijo Castle, where they also showed great interest in the historical stories. Because it was so hot, we gave up on seeing the Japanese garden and took a taxi toward the Gion area. We stopped at a tonkatsu restaurant, and I believe the guests enjoyed it. They were interested in the Gion district, so we walked around a little, but again, due to the extreme heat, we wrapped up a bit early and returned to Kyoto Station by taxi. Coping with the dangerously high temperatures was a real challenge.

We spent half a day with Kaeko Tanigawa taking us to Daitoku-ji and Kinkaku-ji temples and Nijo castle in Kyoto. She is very nice, customer-oriented and knowledgeable about Japanese culture and history.

Kaeko Tanigawa was fantastic at helping us create a tour that worked for our family with two young children. It was a very hot day, but the air conditioned van was perfect. We loved making ramen together, feeding monkeys, and seeing a few top sites of Kyoto.

Kyoto Private Tour
Kaeko was absolutely amazing from start to finish, and my husband and I had the best time with her during our honeymoon in Kyoto in April! She reached out well before our trip to get to know our interests and carefully planned an itinerary that was perfectly tailored to us—even helping us choose the perfect lunch spot.
