- 08:45-10:00. Bus from hotel, visit and stay at Wetland Botanical Garden
- 10:10-10:30 . Bus from Wetland Botanical Garden to Togendai
- 10:45-11:10. Pirate ship to Hakonemachi
- 11:20-12:40 Shopping in Hakonemachi
- 12:40-13:50. Bus from Hakonemachi, visit Hakone Shrine
- 13:50-14:20 Lunch at cafe
- 14:40-15:05. Pirate ship to Togendai
- 15:10-16:10. Stay at Owakudani
- 16:15-16:40. Bus from Togendai to hotel, then disband
Can You Do a Private Hakone Day Tour with a Licensed Guide? A Tour Report
The guests were visitors from Europe who had done their own research before joining the tour, so it was helpful to hear their requests in advance. They enjoyed strolling through the wetland botanical garden, and since they had wished for sake as a souvenir, I guided them around Hakone town. They purchased five bottles of sake (which I thought must have been heavy), and because they preferred a relaxed itinerary, we planned to spend plenty of time on the sightseeing pirate ship. Although it was cloudy during the rainy season, they were able to see Mount Fuji (only the top part) along the way, which made them very happy.

Our guide, Kappa-san, modified the typical Hakone tour to accommodate our interests, and is very helpful and knowledgeable. Since the day was very hot (95°F / 35°C) we favored activities that were more shaded or cool, including a walk on a cedar-lined section of the old Tokaido path.

Kappa, our guide met us at the train station and took us all over Kamakura. We saw shrines, the big Buddha, gardens, and the Oceanside! Kappa shared a lot of history about Kamakura, and it was nice to have this background when we were exploring these incredible sites! Highly recommend!

My wife and I were treated to a wonderful walking tour of Tokyo with Kappa. Kappa was very accommodating in designing a tour specifically tailored to our interests. Kappa is a wealth of knowledge regarding the city history, temples and shrine, and Japanese art history. She is a lovely person too. I highly recommend Kappa if you want to learn about Tokyo
