What Can You See on a Private Kyoto Tour Beyond Fushimi Inari and Kinkaku-ji? A Licensed Guide's Report

The guests were visitors from North America. After sightseeing in Tokyo, they came to Kyoto.

For the tour route, the guests requested "somewhere recommended other than Fushimi Inari, Kinkaku-ji, or Arashiyama," so I proposed this itinerary.

We took a taxi from the Hotel to Kiyomizu-dera. Kiyomizu-dera was pleasantly uncrowded in the morning, but unfortunately staff were vacuuming on the Kiyomizu stage, and at Otowa Waterfall the facilities were being cleaned so we could not drink the water, which made for a somewhat disappointing visit. At Sanjusangen-do, we happened to encounter a large group, so to avoid overlapping with them we took a walk around the garden before entering the hall. During our stroll through the Kyoto Imperial Palace, one of the guests wanted to take a short rest, so we rested for about 10 minutes on a bench within the palace grounds. During the break, I helped the guests make a dinner reservation. After the walk through the Kyoto Imperial Palace, I saw the guests off to Kyoto Station via the Karasuma subway line, and at the guests' request we parted ways there.
