What Can You See on a Private First-Day Tour of Tokyo? A Licensed Guide's Report
[Japan Guide Agency (JGA Inc.)](https://www.j-g-a.org/) guide led a private first-day tour of Tokyo for a group visiting Japan from North America. The group planned to continue to Kyoto after a week in Tokyo. Since one member of the group needed to be mindful of walking pace and general condition, I kept the pace gentle and paid attention to everyone's comfort throughout the day. At Hamarikyu Gardens, I recommended a break at the tea house on the island, and everyone enjoyed matcha and nerikiri sweets. For lunch at Tsukiji, I had considered taking the group to a food court because of the size of the group, but since everyone loved sushi, we went to a sushi restaurant, which they were delighted with. As they mentioned wanting to collect goshuin stamps, I explained the differences between the stamps at places such as Hamarikyu and Ueno Park, and they received a goshuin book and a stamp at Namiyoke Shrine, and also obtained stamps at Kiyomizu Kannon-do and Ueno Tosho-gu. They also learned how to ride the subway using a Suica card and how to use the vending machines. In Yanaka, they bought souvenirs such as chopstick rests at a tea shop. I was a little worried about the high humidity, but the tour finished without any trouble, and I felt relieved.

Our wonderful guide, Takako, took us on a tour of Tokyo. She helped us create a plan based on our interests and was flexible when we needed to change the itinerary a bit due to extreme heat. She was friendly, informative, and helpful. We enjoyed learning about Japanese culture and history from Takako, and we saw amazing temples and ate delicious sushi. I highly recommend this tour and Takako as a guide!

We had an amazing day with Takako. Takako got in contact prior to our tour to create the perfect itinerary. She collected us from our hotel and helped us get our travel cards and showed us how to use the public transport. Takako altered our tour and took us to Harajuku Takeshite street, which our teenagers really enjoyed. Takako was really informative and friendly and made the day really enjoyable. We would have no hesitation in booking her again. Takako showed us more in 6 hours than we would have seen in a week if left to our own devices. Thanks Takako and we will watch The Transporter!
